Cannaregio
Cannaregio extends from the new Calatrava bridge between the bus station and the train station all across the north of the main island of Venice out to meet Castello and San Marco in the East.
Castello
Castello is the tail of the fish of Venice - the area east of Saint Mark's Square and includes the Arsenale and the Biennale gardens.
Dorsoduro
Dorsoduro houses many of the galleries in Venice, including the Guggenheim. It also has the Salute church - one of the most recognisable landmarks.
San Marco
San Marco is the area around Saint Mark's Square. It is the most expensive area of the city but it also full of tourists and does not have good access to supermarkets.
San Polo
San Polo extends from the Rialto Bridge down to Campo San Polo and the Frari Church.
