Venetian Glossary
Calle - the word for street in Venetian.
Campo In Italian, campo means 'field', but in Venice it is used for 'square'.
Campiello is a small campo.
Cicchetti - small plates of food ordered at the bar.
Fondamenta - the bank of a canal which you can walk along.
Ombra - a small glass of wine.
Sottoportego - the Venetian equivalent of the Italian 'sottoportico' which means 'underpass'. They are usually archways or passages where the street goes through a building.
