Mazzorbetto
Mazzorbetto is an island in the Venetian Lagoon located to the north of Mazzorbo and is separated from it by a sixty metre wide strait (the Mazzorbo canal).
Despite the name, Mazzorbetto is much more extensive than Mazzorbo. The island, which in the past had been flourishing, is now virtually abandoned and as of 28th January 2014 had only two inhabitants.
There are some old buildings and an Austrian fort (started by the French in 1807) which, abandoned until 1981, has now become base for the Scouts.
Much of the island is planted with vegetable gardens.
