Ezra Pound and Igor Stravinsky are buried in this cemetery. To reach the island take the vaporetto 4.1 or 4.2 to Murano from Fondamente Nove - it is the first stop.

Recinto XIV Greco: Stravinsky is against the back wall on the right, Diaghilev on the left. Recinto XV Evangelico: Ezra Pound is hidden in a flowerbed in the middle of the front left quarter!

Off the boat, straight thru courtyard are tombs for nuns (suore) & priests (frati).

It became a cemetery in 1807 as burial on the mainland was decreed unsanitary. Bodies were carried here on special funeral gondolas. Last home for Igor Stravinsky, Joseph Brodsky, Jean Schlumberger.
