Crevan
MapCrevan is an island in the Venetian Lagoon located at the southern end of the Burano marshes. It covers an area of about 0.4680 hectares, of which 377 m2 have been built on.
At the beginning of the nineteenth century, during the Austrian rule of Venice, a fort was built on the island. It was the headquarters of a small garrison, to oversee the southeast of the access to Burano. Later the island was sold to private owners who used the fortress to live in and created gardens and orchards. Its owner was the entrepreneur and politician Giorgio Panto who died when his helicopter fell into the lagoon.
