The Accademia Gallery is run by the Italian state and is included in #domenicalmuseo (free entry for everyone on the first Sunday of every month).

Monday: 8.15 am - 2 pm.
Tuesday to Sunday: 8.15 am - 7.15 pm.
The ticket office closes an hour before the gallery closes.
Closed on 1st January, 25th December, 1st May.

You should definitely see these three here; Michelangelo's David and Prisoners, Giambologna's Rape of the Sabines, Botticelli's Madonna and Child and Madonna of the Sea.

I wouldn't have been disappointed if I skipped this. There's only so many religious paintings one can handle. Took about 1 hour to see everything.
